Amazing Grace

Star of NBC’s Today Show to appear at the Wilson County Fair

Steve and Pam Foster made the “trek” from their farm in Virginia’s Shenandoah Valley to New York so Grace could strut her stuff on national TV, but folks will next get a glimpse of the “equine wunderkind” on the big screen.  Grace will be cast in the film “GET LOW”.  According to Pam Foster, Grace is going to follow in the “hoof steps” of other famous “equine”; Mr. Ed and “Frances the Talking Mule”.

They are several “tricks” that Grace performs.  Some of them being—Put a paint brush in her month, a board in front of her and the “paints” (yes, her paintings are for up to $1,000).  Put her with a basketball goal and ball and she “dunks” the ball.  She is able to get mail from the mail box, deliver bottled water to a friend, upon command; ask her age and she will “paw” the number of her age.

Steve Foster has been training mules for more than 20 years, but when he met a young Grace and took her into his fold of five, he knew he had a most unusual animal on his hands.  Proving to be far from the stereotypical stubborn mule, Grace took to Foster’s trick teaching, and loved the attention.  Before long, she could push a stuffed animal in a stroller, ring a bell, play “hoops” and stand on a box.  Foster states that she knows the tone of my voice, “when to stop and when to go”.  I don’t know where Grace is going to take me, but I know I am going to follow her.  Pam Foster stated that she’s learned to take the attention her husband lavishes on Grace in stride—knowing the feeling is mutual; for when Grace hears his truck pull up she whines like a dog for his attention.  Grace went from local legend to the national “spotlight” last year when Foster entered her in the America’s Ultimate Horse Idol competition, being the only mule in the contest, claimed the “top spot”, as she wowed the judges with her feats in the Richmond, Virginia show.
