Adult Family & Consumer Sciences

- All entries must be brought to the exhibit building and registration forms filled out for each entry. We now have a new simplified entry procedure.
- No person may enter more than one exhibit in any one lot.
- Prizes will be awarded on decision of the judges.
- All exhibits must be entered between 10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 7, 2010.
- All exhibits are to be removed Sunday, August 22, 2010 between the hours of 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m.
- Exhibitors must have name and phone number on the underside of each exhibit.
- All entries must have been made since August 1, 2009 unless otherwise indicated or never have been exhibited before. No soiled articles will be accepted.
- Entries must have been made by the exhibitor who must be 19 years old or older.
- Entries must be hand-crafted to be eligible. Commercially produced items will be disqualified.
- Competition open only to Wilson County residents or members of Wilson County Family and Community Education Clubs.
- Neither Mary Jo Haynes, Shelly Barnes nor the Wilson County Fair will be responsible for any loss or damage to entries.
- No entry may be removed before the date and time specified in rule number 5. Removal will forfeit the right of entrant to enter any items the following year
- Neither Mary Jo Haynes nor the Wilson County Fair will be responsible for any entry left past the time specified in rule number 5.
- Any winning entry that does not comply with rule number 8 will be forfeited.
- No exhibitors will be allowed in the exhibition area during judging. (This is at the request of the judges and will be enforced.)
- There will be a contest held in canning, sponsored by Jarden Home Brands, maker of Kerr and Ball Canning Products.

All entries must be sealed and in standard canning jars to be accepted for judging. Jarden Home Brands, maker of Kerr and Ball canning products, sponsors a separate canning contest. To be eligible for this contest you must use either Kerr or Ball Products (jars, flats, and rings).

Criteria used for judging clothing at the Wilson County Fair
Construction Details -
- Fabric suited to pattern
- Sharp corners, smooth curves and edges (collars, pockets, necklines, armholes, cuffs, etc.)
- Evenness and accuracy of cutting
- Edges appropriately finished to prevent raveling on seams, facings and hems
- All thread ends clipped
- Hems invisible on outside of garment (unless top stitched)
- Fabric design matched, centered or balanced
- Clean, well pressed
- Level of difficulty
